Founded in 2002 by the Edo Community, to promote the awareness of the leprosy disease and its effects on victims. Since then we have donated items such as bandages, injections, disinfectants, soaps and beds and mattresses to the leprosy home in Ogan in Edo State, Nigeria.
The community financially assisted in the renovation of children’s ward in the Benin central hospital in Edo State in 2006. Items such as ceiling fans, lighting materials and hospital equipment were donated as well.
The health system is in a disastrous state due to the malfunctioning and the lack of equipment for the day to day health management. Health they say is wealth but for someone who is sick, can he/she look for better future? There is no way, you can also imagine, that the x-ray, laboratory equipment and other tools are not sufficient for the doctors to effectively carry out their duties. There are no medications to help reduce or even cure these patients of their illnesses. This is why Edo-Community Kassel is reaching out to the world for assistance to provide support for the leprosy victims of Edo State.
We are working hand-in-hand with the Edo-Community of Germany (National Body), and with some other support groups in Edo-State Nigeria, to tackle the leprosy disease that has befallen some Edo indigenes.
We, the Edo-Community have intervened because of the government’s lack of concern and the unacceptable condition of the infrastructures these totally neglected citizens depend on. This project is designed to initially provide the victims basic necessities such as acceptable living environment and conditions by providing them shelter and renovating the dilapidated houses they live in. Thereafter, the project will extend to looking into the possibilities of avoiding as well as curing this horrifying disease. Our goal is to impact and bring back hope to their lives.
This project requires a substantial amount of funds and requires a long-term execution. Your generous donation today will help move the project forward and will bring a smile to the faces of these helpless leprosy victims of the Edo-State. Join hands with us to make a difference by touching the lives of others.
We hereby appeal to you for your support and donation towards helping this neglected leprosy victims. Help us give their lives a new meaning. Nothing is too small or too big. Please contact us and make a donation today. You will be surprised how far your donation can take us towards achieving our goals.
The president and the members of the executive would like to use this medium to thank all members of the community and all donors for their steadfastness, consistent support and dedication.
